Week 16 - Skirting Boards

By this time I am getting a bit bored of staining and varnishing but there is still more to do when it comes to the skirting boards. I plan to access the space under the kitchen units in order to connect/disconnect the waste water hose to the waste container under the van. I will therefore create a removable panel at the front and fix the skirting around the sides.
It also allows lower positioned gas cylinders and water containers which give more cupboard space.

Some general house skirting board was picked up from B&Q. It was stained and varnished as usual and then affixed to the walls of the van. This skirting board has 3 purposes:
  • It will help prevent the threads at the edge of the carpet from fraying and unravelling.
  • It covers the edge where the wooden floor meets the wall and the dirt/imperfections of the carpet where it was located on the end of the roll.
  • It looks great.

The skirting around the kitchen units was made from 9mm Ply and glued to batons fixed on the bottom of the units.
